a LOT of people... awesome! we are currently between zines at the moment, we'll be starting producing on our next one in the next 2-3 weeks :p

for now i'd recommend getting to know the resources you have here, connecting with your fellow contributors, maybe making a CONTRIBUTOR PROFILE using the form HERE! we also accept articles, photo drops, think pieces, poems, videos, interactive social media posts, etc. at our email friendcities@proton.me ! if you have any questions feel free to send them there OR! message voupie (founder of friendcities :p) on instagram or at my number 623-230-8125 ! happy creating and welcome again!

general zine procedure

so, generally we start things by announcing that we are starting a new zine! after that we submit prompts, that is unless we already planned the prompts ahead of time for an event or special issue. there will be a zine prompt submission form where you can sub,it as many prompts as you would like. after the prompt submission time has passed, each and every prompt is put into a prompt vote where we can all vote for the prompts that we want to use for the upcoming zine. the top 3-4 prompts will be used to make the upcoming zine! the prompts that are selected by the contributors will be posted here with the deadline attached! after that you are set free to create whatever form of art that you like (including but not limited to: drawings, photography, collaging, ceramics, poetry, magazine articles, think pieces, personal anecdotes, mixed media...). you can interpret the prompts however you like, there are no wrong answers. when the deadline has been reached, the editing team will put all of the extra pages, submissions, and other goodies together to make both physical zines as well as the digital release you see on our website!

zine submission guidelines

  • 8.5x11 aspect ratio for single-page submissions
  • 17x11 aspect ratio for full spreads
  • you can submit for as many or as little of the prompts as you'd like
  • submissions go to friendcities@proton.me
  • submissions can be sent in the form of a photo file, a pdf, or a psd!
  • if any confusion persists, do not hesitate to contact voupie or andrue at 623-230-8125, @voupie on instagram, or voupie@proton.me
  • there are templates to use on the right side bar under resources, they are the perfect size for a submission :)
